Questions some people may ask about garage doors
Q - What type of door should I have?
A - Think about what you want your new door to do. Do you want a simple straightforward replacement for an existing door? Then go to the standard up and over in steel
Q - I have heard about canopy or tracked gear. What's the difference?
A - A canopy door when open suspends in the opening with approximately 1/3 of its height remaining outside the garage forming a canopy. A tracked door travels right back into your garage on tracks at right angles to the opening. Choose this type of door if you wish to automate an up and over door.
Q - What styles are available?
A - With one piece up and over doors there are many styles and finishes to choose from. You could also consider GRP which means no maintenance. Have a look at the brochures to download.
Q - Why are sectional doors better?
A - A sectional door has a host of features and benefits that make it superior to an up and over. However the patterns are limited to Georgian Panel or Rib, but you could add windows to add pzazz. The main benefits are - it can be insulated, the exterior coating is maintenance free, you get full drive thru width in most cases, you save space, and it can always be automated later if you wish.
Q - OK What about a roller door?
A - Roller doors are available in steel in manual or electric, or in double skin and insulated aluminium ( electric only as standard). The benefits are the same as for sectional doors but a roller can take as little as 8in of space headroom, so you can have the luxury of a remote control door and keep the useable space in your garage to the maximum.
Q - Are your doors guaranteed?
A - Of course, all our doors are backed by manufacturer guarantees as well as our own, and our fitters are factory trained, so you can rest assured that your door will be installed competently, professionally, and most importantly safely for you and your family. This is especially important for an electric door. This is the biggest piece of machinery you will have installed in your home. Have it professionally fitted by qualified personnel for total peace of mind.
Q - I would love an electric door , but I' m worried about whether the electrics in my garage are suitable? How can I find out?
A - If you arrange for a survey to be carried out for a new electric door, we will tell you if the condition of the wiring in your garage is not up to the job. That's because every survey for an electric door or operator is carried out by a qualified electrician.
